Virtualization in the Cloud
Virtualization or virtual environment is the basis of the cloud. Without a virtual environment cloud computer would be limited to just plain text.
Virtualization is a pretty big word to describe the existence to an environment inside another. The most popular vitalization is found with the World or Warcarft. A large medieval world that can be navigated inside your computer. This world has other characters and player that also interact in that environment. Less popular call centers, insurance companies and other corperations use a web based virtual environment to get much need data to their employees.
Information Security, June 2008, wrote, “Everything done with database, Web applications file shares will be intercepted and melted by virtualization software, allowing one rack mount server to act like 10.” These 10 different application will be display on one computer several thousand miles away. This has been happening to some degree since the mid to late 90’s.
Since then we have gotten faster network speeds, more powerful computers and alot more complex programs. Dial-up Internet connection are only use for people in remote location that do not have cell towers. Small hand held smart phones are more powerful that desktop computers of 8 years ago. Websites have developed from static content of text, and a picture or two. Now days a website will have interactive content pulling from serveral different files along with different servers around the world.
I mentioned earlier that World of Warcraft and a virtual enviroment. What about My Yahoo homepage. Google Docs, and not to mention running Windows XP on a Mac Book Pro (Boot Camp). Writing for Cloud Weekly is not done applications on my computer. It is done through my web browser to an application on the web server.
